DRESS

  • A collared dress shirt of a solid color (tucked in and buttoned at the neck). Writing is not permitted on the dress shirt. • A tie or bow tie, will be visible at all times, tied professionally at the neck and of proper length.
  • Dress or khaki style pants of a solid color with a traditional vertical seam on the leg. Jeans, corduroy, cargo pants, pants with rivets, or denim of any color are not permitted. The size of pants must be appropriate to the student’s body size and not oversized or undersized.
  • A traditional belt (dark brown or black) and belt buckle (no large type design emblem or letters). Curley belts may be worn.
  • Socks – above ankle length (prefer dress socks).
  • Brown or black dress shoes without a white sole – multicolored shoes and waffle bottom46 / Archbishop Curley High School shoes are not permitted. Sperry type shoes are allowed but must be brown or black and without a white sole. Shoes must be below the ankle. Dress boots require administrative approval. Wearing shoes on the back of the heel is not permitted.
  • A sport coat or blazer is required during dates set by the Administration. Sport coats or blazers must be solid color and professional looking.
  • Sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, quarter zips and any athletic apparel will not be permitted. The only exception is the official Curley V-neck sweater.
  • All extra apparel is to be stored in the student’s assigned locker during the school day.

GROOMING

  • Clean shaven.
  •  Hairstyles are to be neatly groomed. Hair is not to exceed the top of the collar, the top of the ear, or be below the eyebrows and of reasonable length and height as to not be disruptive to the learning environment. Sideburns are not to exceed the bottom of the ear. The following styles are examples of prohibited hairstyles: head shaving, lines and designs, faux-hawks, mohawks, mullets, spikes, pony tails or coloring of any kind. Archbishop Curley High School recognizes that particular hairstyles may be part of social, ethnic, spiritual and cultural identities and practices or adopted for protective purposes. In those cases, it is the policy of Archbishop Curley High School to permit individual families to receive an exception from this policy so that they may choose the appropriate cared-for hairstyle for their Curley Man. Should a student have a question about a hairstyle, he should see the Assistant Principal of Student Affairs before getting his hair cut or styled.
  • Body piercing jewelry is not permitted while on campus.
  • Tattoos must be covered while on campus, and during all school-related events off campus, including during participation in athletic events.
  • Chains or necklaces, if worn, are not to be visible.
  • No finger nail polish and make-up permitted.
