Archbishop Curley High School is pleased to announce that Demonya Womack ’11 will serve as the next Varsity Head Football Coach for the Friars. While entering his 1st season as head football coach, Womack is no stranger to Curley or the football program. Last year, Womack served as an assistant coach on the varsity staff and as Director of Admissions at Curley.
While taking on the new role, Womack is also a proud alumnus of the football program playing under long-time head coach Sean Murphy and previous coach Brendon Ireton. Womack understands what it means to be a “Curley Man,” and looks forward to progressively instilling the Franciscan ideals and beliefs, which is at the root of Curley tradition. Womack said, “Curley has had a huge impact on my life, providing me a pathway to growth and success, and I’m excited for the opportunity to pay it forward to future generations of Curley men.”
“Coach Womack stood out because of his vision and mission-first approach for the Curley football program,” said Athletic Director Justin Gordon. “Demonya practices the Franciscan values in his actions and his words. He is a proven mentor to so many Curley students through admissions and in the athletic arena. He has the knowledge of what it takes to be successful at Curley and in the MIAA, with big dreams for the football program. Simply put, he is the right coach for Curley.”
Womack brings a wealth of professional and athletic experience to the football program. After Womack’s playing days at Curley, he played four years at Albright College earning a MAC championship in 2015 and making it to the NCAA national playoffs. Womack also completed an internship with a professional sports team, then worked in operations and as an athletic director for national youth nonprofit organizations before joining the Curley community. Womack said: “My passion resides in developing young people. Helping to develop and prepare men to be positive and productive members in their communities and in life.” Womack has a Master of Science degree in sports management from the United States Sports Academy. Coach Womack will begin his football responsibilities immediately, and will transition from the admissions office to the athletic office and physical education department for the 2023-2024 school year.
