CORNERSTONE DAY

April 12th, 2021 | Posted By: Greg Malanowski | Posted in Giving, News

Happy Cornerstone Day!  The Curley Family celebrates today the ceremonial laying and blessing of the cornerstone on April 17, 1962 by Archbishop Lawrence Shehan. Today is an opportunity to share a little of Curley’s history and to recognize some of those who are “cornerstones” of the school.

The prayer service began in the Suehle Auditorium at 10 AM. Present were our honorees and the Class of 2021; students throughout the school and those virtual viewed the service through livestream.

Fr. Donald welcomed the honored guests and faculty and students. Members of the Curley Choir provided music and Tim Sank ’21 proclaimed the scripture reading. After Fr. Donald’s homily, Mr. Barry Stitz read the award descriptions as Fr. Donald presented the awards. Those honored were:

The Flaherty Foundation (Mission Support) represented by Ms. Beth Flaherty, the Foundation’s Executive Director, and Ms. Tiffany Scurlock, the Regional Scholarship Facilitator.

Mr. Robert ’73 & Mrs. Eileen Jirsa,  Mrs. Joan Jirsa (Scholarship Donors).

Mrs. Barbara Suehle  (Dedicated Volunteer).

Mr. Christopher Ludwig ’91  (Unsung Alumnus)

Mr. Eugene Hoffman ’69  (Long Serving Faculty & Staff)

Congratulations to our 2021 Cornerstone Day honorees!
