Dear Members of the Curley Family:

It is a pleasure to announce that Mr. Jeremy Joseph has been named the new principal of Archbishop Curley High School, effective July 1, 2021.  He succeeds Mr. Brian Kohler who has been named the next president of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, MD.

Mr. Joseph, a 1996 graduate of Curley, received his bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Education Administration and Supervision degree from Loyola University Maryland, and has spent his career at Curley as an admissions director, teacher, alumni director, and in the Advancement Office.  He is currently the school’s director of marketing and enrollment management.

As you may know, to assist this process, and to bring the greatest objectivity, a Principal Search Committee was formed.  The committee began its process by reviewing the surveys submitted by members of the School Board, the faculty and the Curley parents, drawing up a list of themes that were common to the surveys.  They then reviewed the applications that were received from across the country, interviewed a number of these candidates, and presented their summary of the interviews, noting that Mr. Joseph clearly addressed each of the themes that were the basis of the interview questions.

Based on the very much appreciated work of the Principal Search Committee, and with my own knowledge of Mr. Joseph’s skills, it is a pleasure to name him the new principal.  On that personal note, I have known Mr. Joseph since he was a student, and from working with him over many years, I respect him as a very competent colleague, with an appreciation of Curley’s history, and a real vision for Curley’s future.  He also has the skill set to accomplish that vision, with a genuine concern for the well-being of every student, with the desire to see every teacher excel, and with the heart to keep alive the Catholic Franciscan tradition that has grown at Curley over 60 years.  I look forward to working with him in his new role.

Finally, I am sure that we all know that during this coming semester Mr. Kohler and Mr. Joseph will work for a seamless transition.  We extend prayers and best wishes to Mr. Kohler as he prepares for his new responsibilities, and we are blessed to have a member of the Curley Family ready to assume the position of principal.

Sincerely,

Fr. Donald Grzymski, OFM Conv.
President
