The Varsity Friars were peaking at the right time and arguably played their best soccer against undefeated Loyola on Thursday, November 1, in a semifinal playoff game. Each time Loyola took the advantage, Curley was able to answer. First it was a goal by Dylan Sloan late in the first half off an assist by Bryce Woodward. Then it was Woodward who answered Loyola’s second goal, off an assist by Tyler Harry.

The teams ended regulation and the first overtime tied at 2. Loyola converted in the second overtime and registered the victory and the right to play McDonogh in the championship.

In three games against Loyola, Curley lost by one goal. Of the 10 goals allowed by Loyola this season, Curley had 5. The Friars played a great game, hailed a “classic” by Varsity Sports Network. Congratulations to the Varsity Friars, and to Coach Stitz, for an amazing game and an exciting season. You have made the school proud!
